The clapping goes out of phase, but by discrete time units, rather than gradually, as with \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Piano Phase\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.<\/p>\n<p>I think this is the weakest of the four <i>Early Works<\/i>.  I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m not exactly sure why\u00e2\u20ac\u201dmaybe it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s because the timbre of clapping is not that interesting; it doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t have the richness of the human voice that makes \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Come Out\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Gonna Rain\u00e2\u20ac\u009d so good.  Also, it doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t have the rich interplay between the parts that arises from gradual phase shifting, such as in \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Piano Phase\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Clapping Music\u00e2\u20ac\u009d (1972), performed by Russ Hartenberger and Steve Reich.
